Lumenis ResurFX Laser

The Lumenis ResurFX laser is the only true fractional non-ablative laser. It works by heating the tissue in the second layer of the skin (Dermis), in microscopic laser columns, which promotes the formation of new collagen. This is a laser re-surfacing treatment which can dramatically improve acne scarring, stretch marks, and other forms of scarring. It is also used to treat fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation, caused by ageing and sun damage.

As this is a non-ablative laser there is minimal downtime, with lower risk of complications, compared to ablative resurfacing lasers. Following treatment you will expect redness of the skin in the treated area, which can last from two to five days.

At Laserase we use a Zimmer cooler during the procedure, which helps to reduce downtime, and improve patient comfort.

This treatment can be used alone, or in combination with other modalities. Most commonly combined with IPL in the same treatment session, termed Photofractional treatment (marketed as Photofabulous by Lumenis). This combination helps to reduce redness and pigmentation in the skin, with further stimulation of collagen.
